GRP Handrails
DeckSafe’s GRP handrails offer a long-lasting, maintenance-free alternative to steel systems and include inherent advantages. In addition to the high strength and stability you’d expect from any handrail, composite fiber glass versions are a fraction of the weight, making them easier to install.
GRP is weather-resistant, corrosion and chemical resistant and self-coloured – so never fades or needs painting. Its low thermal conductivity makes it warmer to touch and it has no recycle value so won’t appeal to opportunistic scrap metal thieves.
We offer a choice of two handrail systems. Both are constructed using pultruded GRP profiles, held together with stainless steel bolts. When installed correctly they comply with BS 7818 (1995): Specification for pedestrian restraint systems in metal NB: there is currently no safety standard for GRP handrails
